OpenSSH, USB instead of WiFi

usb-ssh-iphoneNow you can SSH to your iPhone via USB cable instead of using WiFi connection. (Windows only)

Requirements

On the iPhone

  1. Connect your iPhone to the internet (EDGE/3G or WiFi)
  2. Open Cyida in iPhone.
  3. Go to Networking.
  4. Select OpenSSH and install it.
  5. Wait for Cydia to download the package and complete the installation.

On your PC

  1. Connect your iPhone to PC by USB cable
  2. Download iTunnel (Zip Format ~600KB)
  3. Once downloaded extract it somewhere
  4. Run “start_ssh_tunnel.cmd”
  5. Open WinSCP
  6. Set the parameters
    • Hostname: 127.0.0.1
    • Port Number: 22
    • User Name: root
    • Password: alpine
    • Protocol: SFTP
  7. Click on Login.
  8. Enjoy browsing iPhone file system!

    Didn’t work on my iPhone 4 (4.3.3). Looks like fr334rtsiT is right. The more current versions of iTunes (mine is 10)’ block this route. Shame.

    Well as far as I can tell, This whole process of Itunel and WINscp is useful, but the 3.0 version with Itunes 8.2 disable the ssh via usb. There’s a way to make it work, but its way easier if you download DiskAid 3.0 and just install it, connect Iphone or ipod touch, any version, including 3.0, and will be that fast.

    Can you do this process using the new 3.0 os for iphone 3g? Before I upgraded my phone it worked just fine but after I did this after i upgraded, it gave me an error. Can anyone help me!!

    Hi , i have a jailbroken iphone 3g 2.2.1 with baseband 4.26.08 and i’m unable to ssh into my phone. I was able to till i updated to 3.0 beta 5 and den back to 2.2.1. What could be the problem?

    I searched for hours to find a way to ssh my iPhone. I had winscp downloaded and no one told me how to use it. This worked in SECONDS. Thank you.
