I just created a page on Facebook to help users which are having problems with installous. Click Here

Many of our users experiencing errors with installous and ask me for solution. I found fixes for many of these errors in installous talk forum so I decided to aggregate these along with the solutions in one post. Hope it will help you to fix the problems.

I’m trying to update Installous, but it doesn’t show the latest version, just an old one (3.x.x)

Remove the following repo and re-add it: http://cydia.hackulo.us
Go to the Manage tab in Cydia, then Packages, and uninstall Installous. Then Refresh the Changes tab, and re-install Installous, with all the new, updated dependencies

When I try to start downloading Installous, a dependency problem comes out

You need to be on a firmware greater than 3.1.x, as Installous doesn’t work any firmwares lower than that. Upgrade to 3.1.3, or iOS 4.0.1

During the download process, Cydia displays a “POSIX error”/”size mismatch” error

The download has timed out. Cancel it and try again.
Download the deb file here,
Copy it into /var/mobile (use iFunbox or SSH) and use iFile (click on the deb and press Install) or MobileTerminal to install it (Command = dpkg -i installous-4.2-1.deb)
Remove then re-add the following source in Cydia, and download Installous from there: http://cydia.hackulo.us

Apps that I install don’t show up on the SpringBoard (Can’t be found)

Make sure you have the correct version of AppSync installed
Uninstall AppSync and Installous. Reboot. Install AppSync. Reboot. Install Installous.
Search for the app you installed in SpotLight (Swipe right from first SpringBoard page)
If you have qTweeter installed, use SBSettings to disable the qStatusHelper plugin (More – MobileSubstrate Addons – OFF)
Go into Safe Mode using SBsettings (which disables mobile substrate) and try to install the app(s) again. There may be a conflict with a MobileSubstrate Addon

When I try to use an app, it crashes and goes back to SpringBoard

Some of the apps have been on ARM7 devices (3rd generation devices). 1st and 2nd generation devices have an ARM6 processor, which can’t execute apps cracked on the ARM7 processor, which is why they crash. Try downloading the app from another link (cracker)
The app may be self-aware, so it realizes it has been cracked, and terminates itself after a few seconds. This means it’s a bad crack.
Your device’s firmware may be incompatible with the OS requirements of the app. Check the AppStore for compatibility, and update (If you wish to)

When I try to sync my apps to iTunes, they either don’t transfer, or get deleted.

Solution 1

Make sure you have the correct AppSync version installed for you firmware
Make sure you have at least 1 legit app from the AppStore installed, free or paid.
Make sure your device IS NOT connected to the computer while you install an app.
Try rebooting, or Respring, after you install an app, then try syncing again.
Make sure iTunes Sync is ON in Installous.

Solution 2

Right-click on your device icon in the left menu in iTunes (under Devices), and click Reset Warnings
Right-click again and click Transfer Purchases

Solution 3

Download an iDevice filesystem browsing program, like iFunBox, or iPhone Explorer (make sure you have afc2add from Cydia installed)
Open the program you chose, and navigate to var/mobile/Documents/Installous/downloads
Copy the ipa files you downloaded to a folder somewhere on your computer (where you can find them)
Open iTunes, click on File (in top left) and click on Add File to Library, then navigate to the folder where you copied the ipas, hold down Shift (PC) or Command Key (Macs), select all the files (click on the 1st, and the last) and click Open
Alternately, you can select multiple files using CTRL, right-click and click Open

The AppStore is showing updates for applications I installed using Installous

Some of the cracked applications contain a file called iTunesmetadata. The AppStore scans for this file and if it finds that an app has it, it will search for updates for that app. There is NO need to delete the file, unless the update badge is really annoying.

Installous has an integrated metadata remover. Go to Settings, then switch On Remove Metadata

I updated my app in Installous, but it still shows an update notification in Updates

The ipa you downloaded wasn’t the latest version. Either the cracker submitted the wrong version of the app (didn’t bother updating it), or the developer forgot to change the version numbers.

Try downloading from another link. When the download begins, look at the name of the file; if it’s not the latest version, cancel it and try again
Wait until a proper updated version of the app comes out
Some apps (like the Google app) have incorrect/messed up version numbers. Ignore the notification, or swipe left on it in the Updates tab, then press delete

I get an “Error building SBCache: No DSID found” notification when trying to install an app

Install at least 1 legit app from the AppStore, either free or paid.

I get a “Permission Denied” error when trying to download apps

AppTrackr has banned your IP because you have tried to get the download links too often.

Wait 24 hours to get a new IP (Almost everyone has a dynamic IP, which changes on a daily basis).
Find out your IP using this site, When you have your IP, send a message to supaazn,
- Note: Just sent your IP address (something like 62.75.123.45) , nothing else.

I get an “Unexpected Content” when I try to download an app

This error occasionally occurs when you try to download an app from FileDude, and is not related to Installous. Due to millions of people trying to download files from FileDude, their servers sometimes get overwhelmed, and when Installous requests an IPA file, FileDude instead displays a HTML page with “ticket expired” error, which is a format that Installous doesn’t recognize

Try downloading the app from an alternative link, like MediaFire, or if there are none, retry FileDude from a different uploader.

I get an “Invalid IPA” error when trying to install apps

When you get this error message, the iPhone built-in installation framework failed to install the IPA.

Make sure you have AppSync installed (the correct version)
The IPA you are trying to install is either incomplete (not the full file), or it’s not .ipa format (a .rar archive etc.)

I get an “API Unavailable” error when trying to download an app, scan for updates or re-cache categories

Installous is unable to communicate with Apptrackr. This is usually due to AppTrackr undergoing maintenance.

Make sure you’re connected to a working WiFi network
Wait a few hours for AppTrackr to come back online

Whenever I try to download any app through Installous, I ended up on a page with some AD like Asian dating site and I am not able to move forward…..Tried different sites and different games but totally stuck on that page…Is there any way to get rid of those ADs….

Codes for verification on installous

The codes are off and on, by reloading you can get the code to appear sometimes.

After you get past this stage some of the links like the blue download will lead to another site instead of downloading the files so please click on other links to activate the download ;}
Its all about trial and error

Enter first app code
Then click on or download normally
Enter another code
Click on underlined download link

I have a Verizon iphone4 Version 5.0.1 (9A405) Model MC676LL Modem Firmware 3.0.03. I jail broke it using REdsn0w 0.9.10b4 and everything seemed to go fine. I went in Cydia and added some source. Accidentally added: cydia.hackulous.us… realized it wasnt working so I removed and correctly added cydia.hackulo.us. Now, when I opened my Hackulo, I only see AppSync fo OS 3.1 and for OS 3.2 I compared to my buddy and his is totally different. Im missiong AppSync IOS 5, etc. I tried to delete and re-add Hackulo several more times but no luck. I tried different internet connections but no luck. I tried to re-jail break (unchecking Cydia) and it fails: no successful firmware download after 60000 ms! I tried Green Poision and it looked like it went through but froze during the on screen process. I dont know what to do and if re-jail breaking is even the solution. Please help… I just want installlous

How i fixed Invalid iPA error:
1: Update to iOS 5.0.1
2: I installed AppSync 5.0+ first
3: I then install Installous 4
4: I tried it and it works.

I did a few test like restoring,rejailbreaking and installing Installous with the steps above and it works 50%

HI, I’m trying to install Installous 4 on my iPod Touch (iOS 5.0.1), everything goes fine until after the reboot. After the reboot, it removes every app and I can’t access anything. The only app I can access is Newsstand, everything else disappears for some reason.

i have a 3gs 4.1 and a4 gen 4.2.1 they both had installous … i had an update for facebook.. i updated both my iphones to facebook 4.0 they both crashed .. they just froze on da apple logo … .. now they said to put itunes back in… so now i have to start all over again …why did this happen ….thanks….

I have Installous 4.4.2 on my iPad 2 and it does not seem to want to refresh the cache. I have the same version on my iPhone 4 and IPad 1 and it works just fine. I have not been able to find anyway to force refreshing the cache. It seems that Installous does this every once and a while but I am not sure how to force this process. I tried enabling the remove metadata option, closing and reopening the application bu nothing happened. Anyone know how to force the cache to refresh???
If it makes sense, maybe I should just uninstall Installous and reinstall it and that would force a refresh by default, but I would still like to know if anyone knows how to refresh the cache manually?

I found that not all Apps are available in installous . I can’t find most apps I want in installous

And i dont know wat to do! The first time i downloaded installouse on this other ipod, it was a diffrent icon, so i suppose i downloaded a diffrwnt installous, but i dont find other source to download installoud?!

Hi I have a problem after having download the instullus using cydia.
I used the cydia.hackulo.us and after its finished downloading the ipod was asking to reboot which i did.
Afterwards the aplle logo would be on non stop.
I heard some has the similar problems, is there a way to fix this?

Hi, I have an iPhone 4 with a jailbroken iOS 5 (using Redsn0w). Now the problem is that whenever I try installing an app from install0us, this is what happens:
1- I find the app and click on the download link.
2- The app starts downloading.
3- When the app finishes downloading it starts installing.
4- And just there, before it installs, Install0us exits and it goes back to the Springboard.

If I open back Install0us, the app is not even saved in my “Downloads” section.
Please help me solve this… thanks.

PS: I have the latest version of AppSync installed. And I am able to install cracked ipas but only via iFunBox on my PC.

Just downloaded installous 4 for ios5 on the iPhone 4. When i rebooted all that came up is the apple sign for about 5 minutes, it shuts off, and does it again. It wont open on itunes so a restore is impossible, what do i do?

Hi,
I installed cydia on my Ipod Touch 4g with iOS 5.0 on it.
It all worked perfectly.
Today i wanted to install Installous on my Ipod but after i rebooted it it stuck.The only thing you can see is the apple trademark but it doesnt move on!
what can i do? what was my mistake?

  I have the EXACT same issue. I had to restore it.. Even though the site says it works, it will not work for me. Tried it twice (full restore, rejailbreak, etc….) Each time when it reboots, it goes to APPLE and will not go anywhere…

  Permission Denied, I will post about it asap. As a brief you should change download folder permission to 777 (Read Write access to everyone)

  If you want to delete Installous, go on Cydia, Search: CyDelete and then install it. Use CyDelete to remove Installous if the orginal way doesn’t work.

My jailbreaked iphone is everything ok with cracked apps using AppSync 4.0+ and Installous (packages from http://sinfuliphonerepo.com becoz http://cydia.hackulo.us or any cydia web pages has been denied in my country).

Problem is that:
Last year, before my ph (ios 4.1) is jailbreaked, I purchased games in Official Itunes Store from PC and this time, Iphone name is kk kktimeout and I’m using my gmail for purchasing.
About 5 month ago, my PC is formatted for some issues and newly installed the latest itunes. Then, I updated my ph’s ios to 4.3 and changed name to kymchogyi. After updating ios, I purchased games in Itunes store from iphone using name – kymchogyi but the same gmail (note that gmail is the same but iphone name is different). After I have downloaded 20 games, I synchronized iphone with formatted PC and authorized computer with the same gmail. But itunes synchronized only for newly downloaded 20 games and showed error “Some apps are not authorized”.

However, I can’t install my old purchased games even after jailbreak and even the new purchased games are able to play smoothly in jailbreaked iphone.

I want to know
1) what’s initial issues for this problem?
2) how to change purchased name for specific .ipa
3) how to overcome access denied for any cydia web pages in iphone (Like, using proxy server or ultrasurf)

Hi, I would like to ask the following:

Currently, my ipad2 version is ios 4.3.2, jailbreak-ed and installed with Installous. Will my apps installed from Installous be removed after I upgrade my ipad 2 to ios 5?

In there any problem for me to upgrade my ipad2 (with jailbreak) to ios 5? Just upgrade directly?

  Do not update your iPad to iOS 5.0! DO NOT! Because you may loose the ability to jailbreak it! You should wait until the jailbreakers release jailbreak solution for iPad 2.
  If you update to iOS 5.0 all cydia apps will be remove and also all apps that installed using installous will be remove.
  
  Remember, DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR IPAD2. PLEASE

I downloaded a game from installus, and when I installed it, whenever I try to play it, it stops and goes back to the menu. What should I do?

I have the 4.3.5 version and i jailbreaked it using redsnow an i’v downloaded cydia and i put the source of installous and i downloaded it but it doesnt show up in my iphone after its completed dowbloaded !!

  That’s because in installous 4 you have to manually scroll down to the downloaded app in the installous downloads list and click it and select install

While I’m hooked up to some wifi network, Installous fail to show me all the download options – only shows me a link to App Store.

However, when I connect to another wifi network, Installous works alright and shows me all my download options – ex: Fileape, file dude, etc.

This problem is persistent, meaning no matter how many times I try to reboot the router or wait a few hours, those network locations will always fail to work and I’ll have to find a network that allows me to use Installous correctly.

Any ideas guys?

you need to remove the xsellize repo first. bcoz when u install installous, it installs Appsync (from xsellize repo).

solutions is below.

1. remove xsellize repo
2. remoe appsync ( this will remove installous too)
3. search installous and it will install appsync 4.0+

4. then add xsellize repo as u like.

I tried installing appsync 4.0x && it goes okay for a while and then it stops and this is what it says ‘trying to overwrite ‘/user/bin/patchsync’, which is also in package appsync’ and then it also says ‘Sub-process /user/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)’ so in other words, i can’t install it.

Can i have some help please ?

I’m running OS 3.1.3 with 6.15 BB and I get the same error with Installous 4 and Appsync for OS 3.1 version 1.0.2

I reinstalled Appsync but that didn’t help. I’ll stay tuned…

Hi, I’m running 4.3.3 on an iPhone 4 and installed installous 4.4.2. I’ve never had any issues with installous until now, it does synchronize with iTunes and let me install new apps but for some reasons, it doesn’t look for any updates. It always shows the message ” no updates available”. I’ve tried to reinstall it but nothing has changed.

NVM, i found that for most of you what JL says is completely true, and it does let it work, but after i removed appsync and installous I rebooted my iphone just for good measure, then install hackulous’ appsync from the search menu in cydia, then install installous 4 AFTER appsync, make sure its the installous FROM hackulo.us though

GREAT JOB GUYS I MESSED WITH THIS FOREVER UNTIL NOW!!!!

I’m getting way too many download errors with my ipod touch 4G version 4.3.2. First of all, when I try to add hackulo and some other sources, I always fail to download the full files. I always get partial downloads for some odd reason. What I mean is that there is no Appsync 4.0+ in the hackulo source for me. When I try getting Appsync 4.0+ from another source, only part of the file is installed. Also, when I try to install the installuos on hackulo, I get the same problem, too many errors displayed in red and the download is not fully complete. The installuous does work for downloads though, however I still can not get an appropriate AppSync file on my ipod. Another problem that I am facing is not being able to save on the Ipod GameBoy advance, I suspect the problem is that I also fail to completely download the GBA BIOs file. Please help !!!! I am so lost!!!

Hi,

First of all, Cydia is amazing. I am having a bit of a problem downloading larger files (lol thats more than 10mb). On Installous, the network connection times out before the download is done and the ipa file even registers as complete sometimes. Now what I would like to know is whether I can activate some option on my phone to refresh the connection or do the same using my router. Which problem do you think it is? Net connection or Phone timeout?

Hi! I’m still getting “Invalid IPA”. No programs would install, and I’m getting very desperate because I’m running out of things to try. All downloads fail. My specs are:

* iPad first generation, 16MB wifi no 3G
* iOS 3.2
* AppSync for OS 3.2 from Hackulo.us
* Installous 4 from Hackulo.us

Things I’ve tried:

* Uninstalling AppSync, Installous 4 with restart each time.
* Tried the Sinful version of AppSync.
* Transferred via WinSCP the .ipa file from the iPad to the desktop PC and renaming as .rar. Opened and it seems fine and complete.
* Downloading .ipas from more than 1 source. Also checking that the file is downloaded complete.
* Checking my Internet connection. My desktop works just fine.
* Installing from App Store works fine.

Everything else works fine.
Any ideas?

  By the way iOS 3.2 is very old. I suggest you to update your iPad to version 4.3.2 and try installous 4.

    No, there is something else goin on here with the iphone firmware or something, I have been researching and thinking about it, I just upgraded and Jailbroke my Iphone 3gs from 3.1.2 (installous and ipa’s worked 98% of the time)….to 4.3.3 jailbroken where installous 4 and 3 doesnt load correctly, or when it does, the ipa’s fail, and yesterday I was getting stick stunt biker from installous with 3.1.2 and it worked fine, same file in 4.3.3 and it doesn’t work anymore…. also, I have been searching through forums, and this is happening with VERY VERY many people and others say to just re-install or roll back to another version blah blah, but it’s something else that is causing this problem…. maybe apple finally found an internal fix we don’t know about???
